How the estimate works

Puppies of the same size group grow in a similar pattern: small dogs finish early, giant dogs keep growing for up to two years. Pupsize knows what share of its adult weight a typical puppy of each group has reached at each age, and divides your puppy's weight by that share.

The younger the puppy, the wider the range, because a puppy at 10 weeks has most of its growing still to do. Weigh again in a few weeks and the range narrows.

Questions

I don't know my puppy's breed or size group

Choose "Not sure". Pupsize checks each size group and picks the one that fits best. Mixed breeds often land between two groups, so expect a wider range.

Is the "double the weight at 16 weeks" rule right?

It roughly fits small and medium dogs. Large and giant puppies have further to go, which is why Pupsize uses a different growth pattern for each group.

Why buy the crate for the grown dog?

A crate sized for the adult, with a divider panel, lasts the dog's whole life. You move the divider back as your puppy grows instead of buying a second crate.
